ADVANCED 4X4 DRIVING SKILLS
There are three different advanced 4x4 courses - each specialized in it's own field.
1. Sand and Dune Driving
2. Mud and Snow Driving
3. Mountain and Rock Driving.

Price
R1500.00 per candidate which includes the use of the 4x4 track
Optional Extra: R 350 per candidate if you wish to attend a separate theoretical session on the Thursday evening before the practical. See details further down below.
This price excludes any camping and traveling costs which will be quoted separately for weekend or one day excursions.

Training Vouchers
We can issue training vouchers valid for 6 months as Birthday/Fathersday/Mothersday/Christmas gifts.
Vouchers will not be redeemable for cash or transferable.

Duration of the course
The duration depends on the training event.
Normally a morning session from 9:00 to 14:00 for the following venues :
Atlantis Dunes - used for SAND AND DUNE DRIVING
Welgelegen 4x4 - used for ROCK AND MOUNTAIN DRIVING
Ou Trekpad -  used for MUD DRIVING (seasonal)
Depending on the number of candidates we may end at a later time. Candidates must arrive in time.

Training at Matroosberg is seasonal and a weekend event.
Matroosberg - used for MUD AND SNOW DRIVING

Training at Wupperthal Johnnies Poort is a weekend event.
Johnnies Poort - used for ROCK AND MOUNTAIN DRIVING, also for the Master 4x4 and Winch Recovery Workshops.

Other 4x4 trails : One Day Event which starts 7:00 in the morning where we normally meet at N1/N2/N7 Stops.
The course is normally held on a Saturday or Sunday.

Boegoeberg 4x4 - ROCK and MOUNTAIN DRIVING + MUD

What to bring with
(1). Your 4x4 vehicle with enough fuel.
(2). Protection against the weather. (hat, raincoat, sunglasses,          gumboots, towel, sunscreen..)
(3). Preferable closed toe and heel shoes
(4). Own refreshments and enough emergency drinking water.
(5). Camping Equipment for weekend trips
(6). Air compressor and tyre pressure gauge

(7). Recovery equipment.
(8). Certified copy of ID should you want a certificate. Please  print your email address clearly on the copy.

You are welcome to bring along your spouse free of charge on morning sessions. It is fine to bring along one child provided that he/she will not cause any disruptions to the instructor or other candidates during the course. Parents will take full responsibility the environment is not kid friendly.
With Weekend- and One Day Trips limited family may come along provided that the purpose of the outing is understood and TRAINING not disrupted in any way.

Driver Requirement
We assumed candidates already understood their vehicle and they are not a beginner 4x4 driver, and they have recovery experience

Attendance Certificate - Pdf format
We shall email you a certificate if you attend either the practical or theoretical session. A certified copy of ID is required should you require an attendance certificate of the training. Please print your email address clearly on the certified copy.

Training Manual
Each candidate who attended either the practical or theoretical session will receive the training manual in pdf format.

PRACTICAL LEARNING
THE ADVANCED 4X4 DRIVER TRAINING IS ALL ABOUT ADVANCED OFFROAD 4X4 DRIVING SKILLS. NOT MUCH TO SAY. THE AIM IS TO GET 4X4 OFF-ROAD DRIVING EXPERIENCE. THE MORE OBSTACLES WE DRIVE THE BETTER. APPLYING OF THE CORRECT TECHNIQUES IS WHAT WE GOING TO PRACTICE FOR HOURS.

THEORETICAL LEARNING - recap of Basic 4x4  + mathematical explanations
4WD VEHICLES (Petrol vs Diesel, Automatic vs Manual, Power vs Torque)
DRIVETRAIN (PartTime 4WD- ,Permanent 4WD-, AWD- and FullTime 4WD configurations, Function of Components)
4WD SYSTEM (understand what happen in the drivetrain when selecting 2WD, AWD, 4WD, Low Range, Engage Difflock, understand the effect of losing grip on one or more wheels specially going uphill or downhill, why not to engage a difflock for recovery, understand situations where wheels with traction cannot help even if 4WD mode is engaged, understand essential wheelslip and how windup will damage the drivetrain, understand the working of traction control and the difference to stability control )
SUSPENSIONS (Chassis, Springs, Axles, Suspensions, Articulation)
CONTROL SYSTEMS (ABS, Hill Descent Control-HDC/Downhill Assist Control/DAC, Anti-Stall, Traction Control, Stability Control ESC/EBD)
TYRES & PRESSURES ( Types, Markings, Recommended Pressures, Age, Inspection, influence of Load and Speed - calculations )
ADVANCED OFF-ROAD DRIVING KNOWLEDGE - terrain dependent techniques (sand , dunes, mud, snow, water crossings, rocks, mountains)
